This Christmas Levenshulme Old Library is running a series of immersive and atmospheric events based around ghost stories.
We have commissioned a number of contemporary authors to each write a ghost story which features either our building or another landmark in Levenshulme. In December we will stage three reading evenings at the Old Library.
At these events the building will be dimly lit by lantern light and four of the rooms in the building will each be allocated to a writer. The audience will be divided into small groups and then led from one room to the next, hearing each story in full before moving onto the next space.
We need volunteers to manage these small groups. You'll be carrying a lantern and leading groups of around ten people from one room to the next, making sure everyone stays with their group, doesn't fall over and is able to get to the toilet if they need to (or to leave the building if it's all too much for them!)
Volunteers will hear each of the stories in full at the events they're helping out at, and will also receive a free set of the stories which will be published as Christmas card booklets as well as a couple of other goodies.
The dates for the events where volunteers are needed are:
- Saturday 2nd December, 8pm-10pm
- Saturday 9th December, 8pm-10pm
- Saturday 16th December, 8pm-10pm
The volunteers will need to arrive an hour before the events begin in order to familiarise themselves with the building and the event.
