Hello, neighbour!
It's almost that time again - our annual street party, Lev Square Fest 2023, is just around the corner! (See what we did there? :P)
This year it's being held on: Sunday 25th June 2023, 1pm - 4pm, on Cuthbert Avenue.
We're looking for some volunteers to help us out on the day and during the run up, and if you think you can help out then we'd really appreciate some extra hands! If you think you could help out with anything below, then please do get in touch!
Advertisement: Making sure all of our neighbours know about Lev Square Fest requires leafletting the area, and gives the people on the street we're hosting on some heads up (and also allows us to ask if they'd be willing to move their cars ahead of time.) This typically just involves posting flyers, and when done as a group it really does get done quite fast!
Litter Picks: We hold a few litter picks on the run up, focusing on the street we'll be hosting Lev Square Fest, to make sure it's nice and tidy for set up. It also allows us to give a little thanks to the people living on the street for letting us use their space for the party!
Setting Up: The day of the festival starts a few hours before, when tables and gazebos get set up along the street. It can be tough work, but it's exciting to see everything as it comes together. We also decorate the streets with signs and bunting, activity prep, tablecloths, etc, so whether you can help out with some heavy lifting or the finer details, we'd appreciate any help!
Stalls: Stalls are minded by volunteers all day during the party, so there are always people around delivering free, family-friendly fun. Without volunteers, we wouldn't be able to hold as many stalls as we do. This doesn't require much, but having a few extra kind folk available to take over a table for a while allows for break-taking and sorting out anything else that pops up on the day.
Tidying Away: More hard work, but packing everything away is equally as rewarding when neighbours and friends pitch in, and everything gets packed away to go back to the kind folk who donated them.
Reviewing and Feedback: A few weeks later we all meet to chat about what went well and what could do better. Being able to collect feedback from volunteers and partygoers alike gives us a good starting point to plan for next year!
